Event Description

"Pick Me Up Paint Chips" ARTful Swap

Rules for participation:  **THIS SWAP IS NOW CLOSED**

  • This swap is limited to the first 19 signer uppers.
  • Each person will complete 20 pieces of ART.
  • The cost to participate is $24.  An additional  $15 is added if we need to mail your finished collaborative project to you
  • Your altered and ARTed up pieces are due at The Creative Underground on or before December 15th, 2016.
  • You will not be considered registered until you have visited the links above detailing the cost of participation and submitted your payment.
  • Each person will go to Walmart and head over to their paint department where they will pick a paint chip from the Glidden collection of paints.  (This will insure that the paint chips are all the same size measurement for the final project presentation.) Once you have chosen a paint chip color that you like -please count out 20 of those chips and bring home...or 20 in a similar/close color scheme.  If you do not have a walmart near you or your walmart does not carry Glidden Paint chips...contact Christi and I will go to my walmart and pick you up paint chips in the color you desire.( See picture)  Your "glidden" paint chips should measure 5''high x 3.25''wide.
  • You will then alter and ART up the 20 paint chips. I would say it is easiest and best to ART the paint chips up the same way.  You will be ARTing up the front...and on the back please include your name and contact info.
  • Each altered paint chip must have a pocket on it that will contain an inspiring "pick me up" message, quote, or affirmation.
  • You must also have a dimensional item of some type on your paint chips other than the pocket.
  • Please make sure that nothing extends over the edges of the paint chips-the tops, bottoms, and sides.

I recommend that you use Ultimate glue to attach any dimensional items...trust me...as I have spent hours gluing on pieces that have fallen off of submitted swap projects where no Ultimate Glue was used!  We do carry this at The Creative Underground so stop by and pick your self up a bottle!!!

Also...I do NOT encourage the sealing of your project with modpodge or gel medium.  This can cause the pieces to stick together.  If you do use modpodge or gel medium in the attachment or preparation of your ART...make sure it is on the underside of any papers.  You do not need to add a layer of these two products on the top of your work.  It is usually unnecessary.

I do however, recommend the use of Workable Fixative to seal any magic crayons or other techniques that might smear or transfer to the other people's items.  And YES! We do sell this at The Creative Underground also.

Please ask me if you have questions about these specific instances or techniques.  I am here to help you with your execution, design elements, or any other creative question you may have! ;-)

Christi can be contacted by emailing her at queenmaven@yahoo.com or calling 970-690-0473.

I just want to make sure my Walmart has the same chips everyone else...my chips are 3.25X5.

And here's second question...are we doing both sides of chip?

I've got a lot of ideas so just trying to decide which way to go...Thanks to much!
